Meet Mel:

“I have worked professionally within the healthcare industry for over 20 years, primarily as a business development and sales leader. I have a deep understanding of the challenges facing our local healthcare delivery systems. This is why I am passionate about any initiatives focused on improving the wellbeing of Maine residents.

Personally, I recently had the privilege and hardship of being a long-term caregiver to a chronically ill parent. The experience opened my eyes to what older people encounter when their lives get quieter, their independence diminishes, and their sense of purpose is shattered. It is heartbreaking to see. So many elders in Maine are isolated and alone as they navigate the latter years of their lives. What if they could live amongst families and children, who embrace their years of knowledge and wisdom? What if they could regain a sense of worth and a feeling that “they matter?” This is what Kin Commons is all about. I am thrilled to be a part of its beginnings in Maine.”
